Press Release
2 ª FURY Book
Between days 16 to 20 December 2009 will be held in Santiago de Chile the 2nd version of La Furia del Libro, book displays and sales of independent publishers in Shed 9, located in Chucre Mazur, barrio Bellavista.
recall that in July 2009 we made the 1st version of The Clash. Such was the competition we felt the need to find a bigger place where the public welcome and integrate other microeditoriales of Santiago, and foreign regions, as well as other projects that keep the same spirit of independent management, craft and creative, such as independent film and music labels. In this version the sale and display of books will be accompanied by sales of films and filmmakers and musicians discs Chileans. In addition, we will have a packed program of activities: readings, book presentations, films, conversations with writers and directors.
Gradually truly independent publishers we've got to know the faces, we want the public also know us.
The last time we complained about lack of association and lack of state and private support. This time we talk about our strengths:
* Book production in Chile has gained renewed strength from the proliferation of independent publishers, some of which make their books handmade and all are in charge of a small group of people who are also writers, poets and artists. These initiatives allow us to find titles and authors of excellent quality, but that will not fit in the proposed commercial publishers. Thus, young authors share space with established authors who are inclined to independent publishers because they are in everyday literary dialogue that hardly found in other commercial publishers.
* From this and other activities done together, we have been learning microeditores to find shared experiences and friendship you have given us visibility. Now we want to reach a wider audience to share our work with other readers.
* This year, thanks to the efforts of microeditores and management of bleeding Catapult Books and Publishing, we support the Books Council to expand our sample.
For five days, the Shed 9 is filled with activities related to books and other arts: poetry and fiction readings, screenings of documentaries about writers, film in digital format, presentations of books, conversation tables, plus special activities for children, etc. .
The Fury 2nd Book open on Wednesday 16 December at 14.00 hrs. to 22.00 hrs, hours will be repeated on Thursday and Friday to Sunday the hours will be from 11.00 to 22.00 hrs.
The detailed final program of activities will be available starting December 10 in www.furialibro.blogspot.com
